glee is like that friend who was really cool when you first met and then slowly got more annoying as your friendship progressed, but you don’t want to write her off completely because her brother is really hot and you get to see him sometimes.

What I’m getting from this is that her brother is Klaine

Holy Musical B@man

*WARNING!!! If you haven’t seen the play this contains spoilers and for those of you who are a little sensitive to shit such as language might not want to watch the play or read this anyway*

After a year of waiting for a new show from Starkid and sitting through the torture that was not being able to see the S.P.A.C.E. Tour, my soul was filled when I learned that they were doing a Batman Parody. I have loved DC Comics for as long as I can remember. Superman has always been my favorite Superhero and will always be. I get made fun for this fact a lot because a lot of people think he is a sell out because he is an alien and doesn’t really count as a Superhero because he has never been a human being. Well technically this fact is true but it wasn’t until his teens that Clark Kent found out that he was an alien; he was brought up as a human being and in my opinion, one that was/is better than most around him (just look at Lex Luther). Anyway back to the point: Batman is defiantly in my top five list of superheros of all time.

Starkid has done an amazing job in taking the essence of all that is holy in the superhero world and making it an easy to follow, catchy musical that everyone can enjoy even if you don’t know anything about the hero’s in the play. They have brought in Nick Gage and Scott Lamps (because their handy-dandy composers Darren Criss and A.J. Holms are off making a name for themselves on TV and stage) to compose the musical this time around. The music is brilliant and has yet to leave my mind. I just want to sing the harmonies out loud in the middle of class and it takes everything I have not to just burst out into “Somebody’s buddy” and “Super Friends” at any given moment during the lecture by the professor of the hour.

The set designed by Cory Lubowich is quite amazing as well. It brings Gotham to life and makes you believe you are there even though you are sitting at home, nowhere near the stage. Costume designer, June Saito, brought the superheros and villains to life and left the Starkid’s in their underwear (where most fangirls want them to be). I also really loved the shoes that were used. Every cast member was in a pair of Chucks, or chuck knock offs, and that really brought a sense of unity in the cast and practicality that a lot of plays don’t have. The dances by Katie Spelman were great and made me want to dance along with them.

Matt and Nick Lang have once again brought a fandom to their knees as they cry from laughter at the amazing lines and references that are in place in the musical. Nick was “marvelous” as Robin and really did make a character that most people hate, into a loveable song bird that holds a candle to Batman himself. Joseph Walker as Batman was another great move in casting, as I could really see no one else that could fit the part.

Brian Holden as Superman was my favorite, but then again I may be biased to the character already but Brian really did do a great job with Superman; he had great comedic timing that one.

Dylan Saunders voice in every situation is always an A+ especially in the title some “Holy Musical B@man!” The rest of the Starkids, including Jamie Lyn Beatty, Lauren Lopez, Julia Albain, Nico Ager, Chris Allen, Denise Donovan, Jim Povolo, Meredith Stepien, and Nicholas Strauss support the show and help move the story along with great one liners that always make you laugh. But the show stealer had to be Jeff Blim.

Jeff Blim as the villainous Sweet Tooth was… for lack of better wording, Fucking Amazing!  He literally stole the show with everything he did. I basically have no words to describe him at all. All I can say is that Jeff better be ready for the fangirls that are in no doubt coming his way with every pass of the musical. I know I will be fangirling away for him. I hope to see him in future projects from the group.

All in all, although a lot of the well known and loved Starkids were not in the show, it was a HUGH success as it should be. I strongly believe that the Starkids will have a lot of work ahead of them if they want to top this production.

Yup, I’m going to do it. This is going to be part critique blog/part whatever the shit I want blog!!! And first off will be Starkid’s “Holy Musical B@man!”See next post for more about that. I plan to touch on all off Starkid’s productions, Glee, Harry Potter, Pottermore, Dr. Who, and many more things that come to my mind! Hope you enjoy!

After last night I just had to makes these!!! Priceless!!!
